What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) is a form of hands-on healing which is thought to have originated in Tibet and which was ‘rediscovered’ by Dr. Usui in Japan at the turn of the century. Reiki is a safe, natural hands on therapy that promotes health and well being on all levels. Reiki is not a cult or a religion, but an Eastern healing system.
Reiki reduces stress dramatically, it increases energy and vitality and it complements all other therapies. Reiki is also a preventative therapy, you do not need to be ill to benefit from a Reiki treatment. Deeply relaxing a Reiki treatment may be helpful for many conditions, ring us for a chat to see if it might be something that could benefit you. We also treat horses and dogs.
What happens during a treatment?
A standard treatment session lasts for just under an hour, the energy is deeply relaxing and it is not unusual for clients to drift off into sleep. You might feel a deep heat emanating from the practitioner’s hands or in other parts of your body, you may feel a flow of energy or a tingling or other sensations and see colours or dreamlike images.
Half an hour is enough to bring you to a deeply relaxed state in which healing will naturally take place. Every session is different as Reiki goes where it is needed most, it may clear out thoughts, balance emotions or heal physical symptoms. Whilst you are being treated you remain fully clothed and the practitioner simply places his or her hands on you in a series of positions.
Before any treatment commences you will participate in a ‘fact finding’ session to discuss your general emotional and physical health, this usually takes about half an hour and is part of the first treatment session. Reiki is a wholistic therapy which means that attention is paid to your physical, emotional and mental health as well as your lifestyle and not just to the symptoms which are worrying you at the moment.
It is desirable to book in for three treatments initially. If you are ill you will probably feel much better after the treatment, but Reiki treatment usually starts a detoxification process so your symptoms may temporarily worsen before permanently improving. By having three successive treatments, then the ‘healing crisis’ as this worsening is called, will usually not be lengthy and the recovery time will be much faster. After that you may need more treatments or you may be completely clear, you and your Reiki healer will decide together which is the right choice for you.

If he is busy the answer phone will be on, do leave a message and your phone number. Reiki should not be seen as a substitute for medical treatment from a qualified doctor. Reiki is complementary to all other treatments and will enhance their effectiveness as well as reducing the side effects of some treatments.
What Will Treatment Cost?
Treatments are £25.00 each. A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required for cancellations, otherwise you will be charged for your missed appointment.
